What is “Thread of Gold” about?
"Thread of Gold" is about a private promise that survives years of trying to be someone else: a gold thread sewn into the lining of a winter coat, and a vow made at seventeen written inside a matchbook. Whenever the narrator forgets who she is, she pulls on that thread and comes home. The seventh track and the shortest song on Solstice Light, it ends softly, with permission to "want your own life."
