About the label.
Founded 2026 in the United States.
McCandless Records is an independent label, founded in 2026, built around a single conviction: the most interesting catalog isn't the one with the deepest discography in one genre — it's the one that refuses to pick a lane.
The debut roster is eight artists across eight genres: Nova Driftwood (deep house), Opal Sinclair (atmospheric R&B), Kairo West (conscious hip-hop), Santiago Fuego (reggaeton), Jesse Cole Beckett (modern outlaw country), Prism Five (K-pop), Lyra Voss (Scandinavian electropop), and Viper Junction (desert rock). Eight artists, no overlap. Each one is the only voice on the roster in their genre — and each one has the room to define it on their own terms.
The release strategy is a deliberate refusal of the slow-drip model. Most independent labels stagger debuts over years; McCandless Records released the entire founding catalog — sixteen records — across four consecutive weeks in spring 2026. The bet: a wide, simultaneous catalog gives every genre room to find its own audience without competing for the label's attention.
The thread that connects the roster isn't a sound — it's a standard. Every record on the label is built to live inside a serious listener's rotation, not just inside a release window. Catalog over campaign.

What we sign — and what we hold it to.
Every artist on the roster arrived with a defined sonic point of view and a body of work built to land as a complete statement. The label's job isn't to figure out what an artist is trying to say. It's to make sure the record says it as clearly as possible.
Records are made to a single catalog-wide bar. The standard is set by the best record on the label, and no release is allowed to dip below it. There is no B-tier release on the roster.
Artists keep their masters. The label handles A&R, production, marketing, and global distribution — and gives every record the catalog company it deserves.
