How we write about our music
McCandless Records publishes features, song notes and genre guides about the music it releases. Facts come from the label's own release records, we never invent quotes or numbers, and we fix mistakes when we find them.
Everything in Features, on the song pages and in the genre guides is published by McCandless Records. It isn't independent criticism: we are the label that releases these artists, so our coverage is written from inside the label, and every byline says so.
Facts about our music come from the label's own release records: release dates, tracklists, running times and credits as delivered to streaming services, and the lyrics delivered with each release. Facts about our artists come from the official bios on their roster pages.
If a fact isn't in those records, we don't state it. Opinions about the music are ours and read as opinion.
When we compare our artists to other musicians, we name only well-known songs, albums and years that can be checked. We never say or imply that another artist has heard, endorsed or worked with anyone on our roster.
Invented quotes or interviews. Made-up statistics, chart positions, streaming numbers, sales figures or awards. Claims about popularity we can't verify. Paid or sponsored placements.
Feature images and artwork are created for the label to illustrate the music. They aren't news photographs of real events.
Every feature shows the date it was published and, when it has been revised, the date of the last update. We revise pages when release information changes or when we find an error. In October 2026 we re-checked every track-by-track feature against the official tracklists and corrected the ones that didn't match.
