Opal Sinclair is an atmospheric R&B and neo-soul artist whose voice — a warm mezzo-soprano with breathy phrasing and intricate runs — sits at the center of every arrangement. The sound draws from Erykah Badu, FKA twigs, Solange, Jhené Aiko, and D'Angelo, but the production lives in its own slow, candle-lit space: lush analog pads, sparse jazz piano, brushed drums, vocals processed for warmth and intimacy rather than gloss.
Her debut album, Velvet, is structured as sixteen one-word textures — Ignite, Twilight, Bloom, Satin, Drip, Electric, Orbit, Fever, Sugar, Magnetic, Closer, Golden, Shimmer, Honey, Glow, Velvet — each track exploring a different facet of intimacy, sensuality, and sophisticated emotional honesty. The album was designed to be heard end-to-end in dim light, the way the best soul records are.
Velvet released on April 28, 2026, preceded by the lead single Ignite on April 26. The album's slow-burn standout is Honey — the record's most distinctive hook.
Two releases live on streaming as of spring 2026: the single Ignite (April 26) and the full-length Velvet (April 28). Sixteen tracks total on the album.
