Drip

What is “Drip” about?

"Drip" is a song about style as self-expression, following a narrator who arrives fashionably late, silences the room and treats every outfit as a point of view. Fashion becomes a language she speaks fluently, mixing pearls with denim and vintage with the new, though the real subject is confidence rather than clothes. The fifth track and, at 2:35, the shortest song on Velvet, it trades the heat of "Fever" for playful head-to-toe swagger and a refrain of "watch me drip."

Drip lyrics

Yeah, drip drip
Watch it fall

Showed up fashionably late, the room went quiet
Outfit speaking volumes and they can't deny it
Confidence is custom, never off the rack
Every single step is leaving impact
Wrist is talking, neck is whispering too
Everything I'm wearing is a point of view
Don't need validation from a single soul
Dripping is a lifestyle, not a dress code

Drip, drip, watch me drip
Every step I take is a masterpiece
Drip, drip, can't stop this
Overflowing with the sauce they wanna sip
Head to toe, I let it rip
Watch me drip

Water on my aura, ocean in my walk
Tsunami of charisma every time I talk
They can try to copy but they miss the point
Confidence is seasoning, I season every joint
Pearls and denim, silk and attitude
Mixing up the vintage with the cutting-edge and new
Fashion is a language and I'm fluent, babe
Every single outfit is a serenade

Drip, drip, watch me drip
Every step I take is a masterpiece
Drip, drip, can't stop this
Overflowing with the sauce they wanna sip
Head to toe, I let it rip
Watch me drip

Splash, splash, make a wave
Ain't nobody gonna dim this parade
I'm the rain and I'm the sun
Dripping till the day is done

Drip, drip, watch me drip
Every step I take is a masterpiece
Drip, drip, can't stop this
Overflowing with the sauce they wanna sip
Head to toe, I let it rip
Watch me drip

Drip, drip
So fresh, so clean
Watch me drip
