What is “Satin” about?
"Satin" is a love song about unhurried closeness, following a couple from whispered late-night conversation into a slow morning when the coffee goes cold because neither wants to get up. Nothing needs to happen and nothing needs a name, and the song finds luxury in simply having time together. The ninth track on Velvet, it opens the album's second half with its softest and most domestic picture of romance, asking only to be held "in the soft light."
